It was about the meaning of the word electrocute. I had to produce a dictionary because she wouldn't believe me that being electrocuted meant dying and not just a shock.

Formally means death, as a portmanteau of electricity and execute. Huh. Did not know that.

Informal use to mean non-fatal Electric Surprise, however, doesn't bother me, because we don't really have another all-in-one word for it, and "electrically shocked" is awkward.

Also, this makes my on-purpose pronunciation of the word "electrician" - "electrocucian" a good bit more dark.

It requires preface with some kind of statement that the shock was electric. Therefore, it's unspecific and sucks.

I did it a couple of times, but when I pick up my smartphone or go fetch an engineering book on the shelf I'm the "pedantic idiot" even before I reached it.

Sometimes she calls me a cheater when I google for the answer or look for it in a book. She's not a very good loser...
...or winner.

Either way, just the idea of having discussions about science and engineering makes me love her even more.
